Today we're outside. Using a different mat. Adding a little distance. He's not in his x-pen. So we go back to the beginning, shaping go to the mat only. The mat is right in front of me. Notice how Landry will go in all directions after the treat and then return to the mat. This is reminiscent of the one person Come Game.....without the puppy, puppy, puppy. Landry has definitely made the connection of the click and the treat. Another great introduction to shaping.
The cue is "Go lie down".
Week Three
When training, I train "a handful (of treats) at a time". And especially when shaping, the treats are in my hand or in my pocket. The dog does not see them.
